DRAMA
Daughters Recovering After Maternal Abuse Ministries, Inc.
Welcomes You!
Dear Fellow Daughters,
God gave me the idea for this ministry back in 2010. At this point in time, my plan is to be able to facilitate a support group for multi-generational women, who were also raised by a maternal influence (i.e. mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, cousin, etc.), that now leaves them in need of a safe place to air their hurts, without feeling isolated. We are not alone and what happened, happened. Now, let’s seek together the healing and deliverance that can only be obtained through the development of an intimate relationship with the LORD.
This site is intended to be used to reach a larger audience, because what went on, in our individual lives/home environments, is certainly not limited to geographical location. I look forward to hearing from you.
***Disclaimer: I am not a licensed psychologist/counselor. I am simply a born-again Christian, who loves the LORD, has suffered through my own childhood abuses; and, is now ready to reach out, to offer you a “place” to be heard and led to the same healing/deliverance that I have been through.

Michelle was born the third daughter of what would become four, in San Francisco, California in the 1950’s. At that time, her parents were still married, but separated, so she was born to an overwrought mother (of two – aged 5 and nearly 13 months) and distant father. Her parents subsequently divorced and remarried, during the first seven years of her life. Needless to say, that did not lead to a harmonious beginning to her young life and she was plagued by night terrors, on and off, for years. By the age of ten going on eleven, her mother, who was given full custody of the family home and the children, as was the usual custom of the day, felt completely overwhelmed with the raising of her three youngest daughters. She had previously sent her oldest daughter, at the age of thirteen, to live with her mother in New Orleans, Louisiana. Now, it became the turn of her remaining three daughters to be sent to their maternal grandmother, as well. It was during the latter part of the two year stay, when the daughters were all together, again, as their mother remained in San Francisco, that Michelle was subsequently sexually molested and beaten, on a regular basis, by an older male relative. There came a time, at the end of the two year period, where Michelle was almost murdered by that then highly intoxicated male relative. As a result of that, her older sister contacted their mother and together they formulated a plan to have them all returned to California.
This brought about a continuation of a long period of darkness in Michelle’s life. In reality, she had never felt loved by her mother. In her experience, words of love were often spoken with hugs given, but never felt. When Michelle became a senior in high school, she got up the courage to ask her mother if she was truly ever wanted. The answer she received was another death blow to her psyche and, many years later, was the catalyst for the birthing of the poem called, “Emotional Abortion”. Writing has been a gift the LORD blessed her with at the age of twelve, to get her through the rough spots in her life and “get her feelings out”.
Michelle graduated from Lowell High School in San Francisco, and went on to attend college at San Jose State University, where she received the degrees, credential and certification necessary to become a licensed Speech Therapist. She was married in the 1982 and divorced, without children, after three years in a tumultuous relationship. It was during the separation process in 1984, she began to call out to Jesus for help, even though she had no personal relationship with, or real knowledge of, Him. Since that time, the LORD definitely had His work cut out for Him, due to all the damage that took place since the initial time of being born as an unwanted child; yet, He hung in there with Michelle, and she finally came to the saving knowledge that His grace if sufficient, and the LORD’s love is not only for real, but unconditional.
In conclusion, in the last few years of her mother’s life, who passed away in April, the LORD continued His healing work, through the Holy Spirit’s ministrations, to restore/heal/reform their relationship. During this process, Michelle finally could feel the love that her mother had for her. Did that erase over fifty years of what had passed for love before that time? No! But, it removed a large weight off of both of their hearts and they could truly speak words of love to each other and sincerely embrace, in a way that could only be credited to the LORD.
Now, Michelle has been selected by the LORD, because of the things she has suffered and survived, to lead this ministry, under His leadership (Psalm 23: 4, “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.” 2 Corinthians 1: 3 & 4, “Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God”). If you desire to know Jesus, the Savior of your soul, and allow Him to do a healing work in your life, as well, this has become that time and place. To God be the glory!!!
